Forget About "New Age": Tap Into The Ancient Wisdom in Psalms and Proverbs [ August 5th, 2008 ] Posted in » Spiritual Marketing

psalmsMany years ago, after reading many "new age", self-help, and personal development books by some of the most poular authors out there, I made what to me was an important discovery:

 

The foundation of all the teaching and advice in these writings can be found in scripture such as the Bible and the eastern Bhagavad-Gita.

 

So now, for wisdom, inspiration, instruction, and advice, I go straight to the source: scripture.

I was pleasantly reminded of this after reading a wonderful post by Cameron Schaefer on Schaefer's Blog entitled "7 Proverbs for Skilled Living".

Like me, Cameron engages in daily reading of scripture:

Nearly every morning for the past 5 years I have sat down and read a chapter from the book of Proverbs.  Since there are 31 in all it sets up nicely for reading one a day.  It continues to amaze me the depth of wisdom found in each chapter covering every area of life from relationships to money to career advice.  - Cameron Schaefer

Do You Submit Your Own Content on StumbleUpon?

stumbleupon contentHave you ever been flamed on StumbleUpon for submitting your own content?

 Or how about receiving death threats like Marty Weintraub for posting on a seach marketing blog about how much he loves StumbleUpon?

 

While this is an extreme example, the fact remains that social media purists really frown on bloggers who submit their own stuff or other content that they deem as inappropriate.

 

What's wrong with submitting your own content?

Why Are Internet Marketers Blogging?

The obvious answer to this question is that internet marketers are blogging to make money online.

Many internet marketing blogs are really collections of mini sales letters for affiliate programs.

I admit to being guilty of this.

Most of these blogs also sprinkle in some "how-to" guides and product reviews that do serve a purpose, especially for beginners.

Secrets of Success in 8 Words

3 Minute Video Reveals 8 Secrets of Success

Maki at Dosh Dosh posted an article featuring a selection of  "Talks by the World's Greatest Thinkers and Doers".

These are taken from the annual TED conference, a gathering of the best minds from the fields of Technology, Entertainment, and Design.

This video by Richard St. John sums up the secrets of success in 8 words and just over 3 minutes. It really got my attention.

 

 

The TED website has over 150 talks on a tremendous variety of topics that you will find inspiring, thought-provoking, funny, educational, controversial,and entertaining.
