The 10 Keys to Creating Wealth: Number 2: Belief

"Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right."
- Henry Ford

The second of the 10 Keys to Creating Wealth, by Michael Ellison, founder of TriVita, is belief.

What you believe about wealth and your potential to build wealth directly relates to your ability to to build wealth:

  • What actions do you think you need to take?
  • What do you think you are capable of doing?
  • What do you believe you are justified in accomplishing?
  • What is required to fulfill your life's purposes?
  • How much wealth do you believe you can build?

In order to build wealth, you must firmly believe you can.

The Power of Beliefs

Your belief system, your thoughts, attitudes, and values, stimulates your feelings and your actions. You direct your actions by your thoughts.

This is actually ancient knowledge. Epictetus and his student Marcus Aurelius put forward this viewpoint over two thousand years ago.

Consider also this quote from Proverbs 23:7:

"As a man thinketh, so is he."

If you want to be wealthy, you must believe that wealth is for you and wealth is unlimited and available for everyone.

5 Beliefs About Wealth

To help you discover what you believe about wealth, ask yourself these 5 questions:

1.Do you believe that wealth is mostly a matter of luck?

Luck is a game of chance. Wealth requires diligent work and the implementation of strategies.

2.Do you believe that most wealth is inherited?

Unless you have a rich relative, you had better challenge this belief.

3.Do you believe God wants you to be wealthy?

If you have strong spiritual beliefs, you must believe that God wants you to be wealthy.

"God gives power to obtain wealth" (Deuteronomy 8:18)

4.Do you believe that wealth is limited to only a narrow segment of the population?

Wealth is unlimited, as is knowledge.

But do not confuse money with wealth. Money is merely a medium of exchange, wealth is rooted in VALUE.

5.Do you believe that YOU can build wealth?

This is the most important question.

If you do NOT believe that you can build wealth, you must examine this belief, discover where it came from, why you think it is true, and then DISPUTE it and CHANGE it.

The bottom line is that what you believe about yourself will determine how you pursue wealth.

The strength of your beliefs will be revealed when you encounter difficulties and obstacles.

Are your beliefs strong enough to make you persevere and stay the course?

"What you believe determines your future."
