Bloggers: Got Writers Block? Try This

If you’re into , or internet marketing, you end up spending a lot of time sitting in front of the computer.

Here is a tip that is guaranteed to increase both your creativity and productivity:

Shut off the computer and get out and do something!

Yes, you heard that right.

Get off the computer.

Blogging and online marketing can turn you into an introvert.

Actually, many of us are already introverts, that’s why we are able to spend long hours in front of our monitors.

So you’re probably saying to yourself, “I’d like to get off the ‘net, but I still have to…and I must finish this first…and I haven’t done this yet…”

And you’re thinking that to more be more productive, you must get these things done NOW so how can I be telling you to stop and shut down?

Here’s why I recommend taking a break and doing something different and why it will help you:

  • Your mind needs a break. Ever suffer from writer’s block? You’re mind gets tired and needs to rest and be refreshed. The best way to do this is to take it away and do something else.

  • You need recreation and leisure time. Take an activity you enjoy that has a physical component and have some fun. Whether it’s golfing, tennis, walking, hiking – you know what they say about healthy mind and body.

  • Spending too much time in front of the computer can have a negative impact on your relationships – especially with your own family. Read this touching article from Jason Potash to wonderfully illustrate this point: "Life Lessons from a 6 Year-Old".

  • Engaging in recreational activities that are healthy makes you a more balanced person. Balance is essential to maintain a higher level achievement.

  • Speaking of balance, it is also important to nurture the spirit. There has been so much written about this topic through the ages that I will just say that you will find it rewarding to set aside quiet time each day to read, reflect, meditate, pray, or do whatever works for you to help you to become the person you would like to be.

  • By allowing your mind to rest, you should find an increase in creativity. You should find that ideas for posts come easier and you will provide your readers with higher quality content. You also should be able to do more in a shorter time because you feel refreshed and energetic.

Here another tip:

Stop saying, “I must…” and “I have to…”

This puts pressure on yourself that you don’t need.

Watch your mind and when you find it saying these things to you, stop and ask, “Why must I…?”

You’ll be surprised to find that you won’t die and the world won’t end if you don’t finish writing that email.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, nor is it something that you probably don’t already know.

So think of it as a friendly reminder and food for thought.

Think about balance.
