Boost Your Traffic with Forums

Forums are Great for Traffic and Learning

Not only can you increase traffic to your site or blog through active participation in online forums, you can also learn a heck of a lot.

Here are some tips and resources to help you with forums:

Choose a forum related to your niche and participate.

Participation does not mean dropping a few comments with some links here and there. This is tantamount to spamming.

Follow proper protocol. Introduce yourself. Get involved in discussions. Ask questions. Add your expertise. Thank people who gave you some good advice.

Your goal for getting involved in a forum should be about relationship building and networking. This will assist you immensely as you move forward and establish your own "presence" on the web.

To be effective at forum particpation, limit yourself to the number of forums you regularly visit. I'm comfortable with 3 forums right now.

Use forums for help and advice.

People love to help others. Bring your questions and concerns to a forum and see what kind of response you get.

Chances are, you will be pleasantly surprised. Relying on the knowledge and experience of others can save you time and drastically reduce your learning curve.

Asking for help is one of the most powerful things you can do to get ahead.

If you feel that you aren't receiving the help or advice you are looking for, then perhaps that forum isn't for you.

Don't carelessly promote affiliate links.

Remember, you are on the forum to build relationships, not promote products.

Self-promotion can be accomplished in your signature.

Use a signature that gives people a reason to click.

Don't just write: "Visit my blog on Dog Training".

Write something that sells like "Dog Training Tips makes it easy for you to train your dog to stop chewing on your furniture."

That's kind of corny, but I'm sure you get the idea.
