The Cost of Pay Per Click Vs. Building Authority Sites

Let's compare the costs involved with two popular internet marketing strategies, pay per click (PPC) and authority site building.

For the purposes of this discussion, building authority sites will be defined as an authority blog that ranks well in the search engines and provides useful and informed content.

As you can see from the outset, we are comparing the difference between using paid advertising to achieve a top spot in Google Adwords versus using authority blogging to obtain top results in the organic search engine results.

Blog Commenting: A Very Useful Tip

In a recent webinar social marketing maven Jack Humphrey of the Authority Site Center revealed an extremely useful tip when leaving comments on blogs.

Think about it.

Internet Marketing Strategies Before (Link Building) and After (Traffic Building)

This post was inspired by Jerry West.

I used to love those cheesy before and after pictures you would find in advertisements for fitness or weight-loss products.

Here's a recent one of Arnold.

I don't mean to be cruel, but it looks like age is catching up to The Terminator.

Or is it politics?

Do You Submit Your Own Content on StumbleUpon?

stumbleupon contentHave you ever been flamed on StumbleUpon for submitting your own content?

Or how about receiving death threats like Marty Weintraub for posting on a seach marketing blog about how much he loves StumbleUpon?

While this is an extreme example, the fact remains that social media purists really frown on bloggers who submit their own stuff or other content that they deem as inappropriate.

Blogging During a Personal or Family Crisis

What do you do during a family or personal crisis?

Do you keep blogging, business as usual, because the "show must go on"?

Or, do you write about it on your blog, risking that is is off-topic, too personal, and nobody wants to hear about it?

These are questions I have been wrestling with.

You see, one of my older sisters had major surgery last week for lung cancer.

Her name is Patti and she is not doing very well and it is a rough time for my family, especially my parents, who are elderly.

Naturally, I have found it difficult to post on this blog during this time.

I decided to share these thoughts, after all writing is good therapy.

So what do you do in these situations?

Your perspective tends to change at times like these.

However, a blog has the potential to be so much more than this.
